Student Registration Steps

1. Registration: Registration will open again January 5-9, 2026. Beginning January 5th please go to this link to register: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScWkRB56fiQPpNkeDxJ7xlRPf-SLGYlenBPelyWgAl9VjR_1g/viewform?usp=dialog

2. Placement Testing: After you have completed registration you will be scheduled for a placement test called CASAS. This test tells us your reading and/or listening level and helps us place you in class. After you have completed the registration form above, please check your email for information about scheduling your placement test. You will select your class schedule during your testing appointment. 

3. Orientation: If you are a student in ESL or GED classes, you will need to attend a short orientation before you may begin classes. Orientation information will be given to you after you have completed your placement test and have been placed in a class.

4. Begin class: After your orientation is complete you can start class immediately!

 

English as a Second Language/ESL

ESL courses give English learners opportunities to study and practice English language communications skills, including listening, speaking, reading, writing, and critical thinking. Competency-based courses span seven levels ranging from basic literacy to advanced English language development. 

In person ESL classes for beginning, intermediate and advanced level students are offered according to the following schedule:

8:45am - 12:15pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday or

8:45am - 12:15pm Tuesday and Thursday or 

5:30pm - 8:00pm Mon & Wed  or

5:30pm - 8:00pm Tues & Thurs

In person ESL classes are offered in the afternoon for the following levels:

1:00pm - 3:30pm Monday & Wednesday Intermediate/Advanced ESL
1:00pm - 3:30pm Tuesday & Thursday Beginning Literacy/Beginning ESL

Online classes for ESL are not offered at Riverside Adult School. 
 

GED Preparation/Preparación GED en español

This course prepares adults to take the official GED tests to complete their high school credentials. Areas of study include Reading/Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics. It is suggested that students obtain a Kaplan GED test prep book prior to class starting. This program is designed as a supplement to a student's self study. Teacher's move through the test material in 6-12 week cycles. You may be joining a class that has already begun depending on the time of year you enroll. 

In person GED Preparation classes are offered in English according to the following schedule:

GED Preparation - Reading - Language Arts (In person/in English)

8:45am - 12:15pm Monday through Friday

5:30pm - 8:00pm Monday and Wednesday (this evening class is offered 2 days per week due to teacher availability)
 

GED Preparation - Math (In person/in English)

8:45am - 12:15pm Monday through Friday

5:30pm - 8:00pm Monday through Thursday

 

GED Preparation - Science (In person/in English)

8:45am - 12:15pm Monday through Friday

5:30pm - 8:00pm Monday through Thursday

 

GED Preparation - Social Studies (In person/in English)

8:45am - 12:15pm Monday through Friday

5:30pm - 8:00pm Monday through Thursday

Online Independent Study GED Preparation classes will no longer be offered at Riverside Adult School. GED.com has preparation resources if you would like to prepare for the GED exam independently online. 


Preparación GED en español

Este curso prepara a los adultos para tomar los exámenes oficiales de GED para completar sus credenciales de escuela

secundaria. Las áreas de estudio incluyen lectura / artes del lenguaje, estudios sociales, ciencias y matemáticas. Se sugiere

que los estudiantes obtengan un libro de preparación para el examen Kaplan GED antes de que comience la clase. Este programa está diseñado como un complemento del autoaprendizaje del estudiante. El maestro se mueve a través del material de la prueba en ciclos de 4 a 6 semanas. Es posible que se esté uniendo a una clase que ya ha comenzado según la época del año en que se inscriba.

Las clases presenciales de preparación para el GED se ofrecen en español de acuerdo con el siguiente horario:

Preparación para el GED en persona - Todas las materias (en español):

8:45am - 12:15pm de lunes a viernes 

o

5:30pm - 8:00pm de lunes a jueves

 

High School Diploma Completion

Students in the high school diploma completion program complete their coursework independently via the Connexus online system and complete course tests online or on campus with a Teacher. The Teacher is available to meet in person for assistance with course work or for students to work in the computer lab during the following days/times by appointment: 

Mon-Thurs 8:45am-12:15pm or 

Tues - Thurs 5:30pm-8:00pm

Students who are interested in this program should request transcripts from all high schools attended now so that they are ready to be submitted when registration opens. 100 or more credits are required to enter this program.
