Riverside Adult School is a recipient of grants and apportionments from the State of California and the Federal government to fund these programs. There are extensive demographic and identification requirements for students accepted into these programs. They are detailed on the application but are not limited to: US issued photo identification, social security card/right to work documents, proof of Veteran status if applicable, documentation of income if applicable, and proof of registration for the selective service for male students. Students admitted to these programs agree to participate in the data collection and documentation process. This enables Riverside Adult School to fund these programs for all admitted students.

Automotive Maintenance and Repair

The next class will be offered August 17- December 17, 2026

Students who complete this course will be prepared to take the ASE certification exam for maintenance and light repair. Individuals who are interested in applying for this program should thoroughly read through the specific course and admission information at bit.ly/RASAUTO

This class is held in person at Lincoln High School Automotive Lab at 4341 Victoria Avenue Riverside, CA 92507 from August 17 - December 17, 2026. This class meets 3 days per week from 5:30 - 8:00pm. Students attend 2 days lecture on Monday/Tuesday and one day lab on either Wednesday or Thursday. The day that the student attends lab is determined once class starts with the teacher.
No classes in session due to legal holidays or school vacation: September 7, November 11, November 23-27.

Registration Steps for Automotive Maintenance and Repair

1. Complete our online application form linked below during the registration period which is July 20-24, 2026https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScj49YyVmeG1pxOVpnFxA86e-TscqETph0VUwSXlubt88R_lA/viewform?usp=header

2. If you have submitted an online application, information on how to schedule yourself  for an in person placement test will be sent to you via email. This test measures your ability to read and comprehend English and a score of "exited from advanced" (238) or higher is required. Prospective students will be able to schedule their placement test in the morning and afternoon on July 27th or the afternoon and evening on July 28th.

3. Placement tests will be reviewed by staff once all students have completed. It is possible that there will be more qualified applicants than we have space for. If that occurs student's names will be selected randomly through a lottery. 

4. Students will be notified of their acceptance by the end of the day on July 31st.

5. Part of this program requires that you earn Riverside City College credit for your participation. This is free to you, and only requires that you complete the application to the college and obtain a Riverside City College student ID number. As soon as you are accepted into the program, you will need to apply to Riverside City College at: https://www.opencccapply.net/gateway/apply?cccMisCode=961 Please select Fall 2026 for the term.


Within 3-5 days of applying you will receive an email containing your student ID number. You need to bring that ID number with you to the first day of class and submit it to your teacher. The ID number allows us to give you the college credit for the course.


 

Job Skills - RUSD Substitute Employment Program

Are you looking for a job? Have you always wanted to work at a school?  Riverside Adult School's Job Skills course can help you! 

Students who are successful in this course will be eligible for placement as a Riverside Unified substitute employee as a Custodian and/or Nutrition Service employee! All fees for the pre employment screenings are grant funded and of no charge to the student. Physical, drug/background screening - all paid for! If the cost associated with becoming a substitute employee has held you back from applying then this is a great way to overcome that!

We are currently offering this course every 3-4 weeks (except in the months of June and July). Registration is ongoing through May 5, 2026 and will restart in August for the new school year.

Pharmacy Technician

The next class will be offered August 17 - December 17, 2026

This course prepares students to become licensed Pharmacy Technicians in the State of California and gain entry-level pharmacy technician employment. Individuals who are interested in applying for this program should thoroughly read through the specific course, costs and additional admission information at bit.ly/RASPHARM

This class is scheduled in person at Riverside Adult School from August 17 - December 17, 2026.

Monday through Thursday 9:00am to 4:00pm

Registration Steps for Pharmacy Technician

2. Proof of high school completion is required in the form of a transcript. We do not accept diplomas or college records. After you have registered online, you will need to email a PDF or photo of your high school transcript, GED/HiSet or foreign transcript evaluation of equivalency to info@raslearns.net by midnight on the last day of the registration period July 24th. There are no exceptions to this requirement. This is a licensure requirement of the State of California Pharmacy Board.

3. If you have submitted an appropriate transcript, information on how to schedule yourself for an in person placement test will be sent to you via email. This test measures your ability to read and comprehend English and a score of "exited from advanced" (238) or higher is required.
