Student Registration Steps

Registration is completed online and will be open again April 1st through 5th

1. Complete the online registration form for the program you are interested in below. If you have trouble with the link please try it from a computer not a phone. Please click the form here:

2. You will receive an email within 2-3 days of completing the registration form with information about how to schedule your in person testing appointment. An in person CASAS test is required in order to register for any class at Riverside Adult School. (Students registering for the high school diploma program must submit an unofficial copy of their high school transcript during registration. Please request your record from your high school now to ensure you have the transcript for registration.) 

3. Attend your in person testing appointment. You will select your class schedule and indicate whether you would like to attend class in person or online during your testing appointment. You will begin class after you have completed your testing appointment.


This course provides an overview of United States history and the structure of Federal, State, County and City government. It includes the responsibilities of citizens living under a democratic form of government. It also addresses the procedure for applying for naturalization and provides test taking practice in preparation for the INS approved Basic Skills Citizenship Examination. 

A CASAS reading level of 201 or higher is required to register for Citizenship classes. 

This class is offered in person according to the following schedule:

1:00pm - 2:30pm Tuesday and Thursday

English as a Second Language/ESL

ESL courses give English learners opportunities to study and practice English language communications skills, including listening, speaking, reading, writing, and critical thinking. Competency-based courses span seven levels ranging from basic literacy to advanced English language development. 

In person ESL classes for beginning, intermediate and advanced level students are offered according to the following schedule:

8:45am - 12:15pm Monday through Friday or

5:30pm - 8:00pm Mon & Wed  or

5:30pm - 8:00pm Tues & Thurs

In person ESL classes are offered in the afternoon for the following levels:

1:00pm - 3:30pm Monday through Thursday  - Conversation and Grammar: Intermediate & Advanced ESL


Online classes for ESL will not be offered in the 2023-2024 school year. 

GED Preparation/Preparación GED en español

This course prepares adults to take the official GED tests to complete their high school credentials. Areas of study include Reading/Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics. It is suggested that students obtain a Kaplan GED test prep book prior to class starting. This program is designed as a supplement to a student's self study. Teacher's move through the test material in 6-12 week cycles. You may be joining a class that has already begun depending on the time of year you enroll. 

In person GED Preparation classes are offered in English according to the following schedule:

GED Preparation - Reading - Language Arts (In person/in English)

8:45am - 12:15pm Monday through Thursday

5:30pm - 8:00pm Monday through Wednesday

GED Preparation - Math (In person/in English)

8:45am - 12:15pm Monday through Thursday

5:30pm - 8:00pm Monday and Wednesday (there is no Math class on Tuesday evenings)

GED Preparation - Science (In person/in English)

8:45am - 12:15pm Monday through Thursday

5:30pm - 8:00pm Monday through Wednesday

GED Preparation - Social Studies (In person/in English)

8:45am - 12:15pm Monday through Thursday

5:30pm - 8:00pm Monday through Wednesday

Online Independent Study GED Preparation classes are offered in English according to the following schedule:

Students in the online independent study GED Preparation program complete their coursework independently via the Pearson Connexus online system. This is a self study, work at your own pace, independent program. Students are able to work on their coursework online at any time of the day or night. Students are expected to complete a minimum number of hours per week of coursework to remain enrolled in the program.

The Teacher is available to meet with you via Zoom for assistance with course work during the following days/times:

Thursdays 5:30pm to 8:00pm or

Fridays 8:45am to 12:15pm

In person GED Preparation classes are offered in Spanish according to the following schedule:

GED Preparation - All Subjects (In Spanish)

8:45am - 12:15pm Monday through Friday


5:30pm - 8:00pm Monday through Thursday

Preparación GED en español

Este curso prepara a los adultos para tomar los exámenes oficiales de GED para completar sus credenciales de escuela

secundaria. Las áreas de estudio incluyen lectura / artes del lenguaje, estudios sociales, ciencias y matemáticas. Se sugiere

que los estudiantes obtengan un libro de preparación para el examen Kaplan GED antes de que comience la clase. Este programa está diseñado como un complemento del autoaprendizaje del estudiante. El maestro se mueve a través del material de la prueba en ciclos de 4 a 6 semanas. Es posible que se esté uniendo a una clase que ya ha comenzado según la época del año en que se inscriba.

Las clases presenciales de preparación para el GED se ofrecen en español de acuerdo con el siguiente horario:

High School Diploma Completion

Students in the high school diploma completion program complete their coursework independently via the Connexus online system and complete course tests online or on campus with a Teacher. The Teacher is available to meet in person for assistance with course work or for students to work in the computer lab during the following days/times by appointment: 

Mon-Thurs 8:45am-1:15pm or 

Tues - Thurs 4:00pm-7:00pm

Students who are interested in this program should request transcripts from all high schools attended now so that they are ready to be submitted when registration opens. 100 or more credits are required to enter this program.
